THE IDEA OF THE CONTEST
The main idea of the contest is to show the unique world of people with disabilities through photography. Photographers, both professionals and amateurs, tend to go beyond the clichés and to show lives of the special people, creating photo works that assert equal rights and capabilities for everyone.
MISSION OF THE CONTEST
Most people are unwilling to notice individuals with disabilities next to them. The individuals have lost the ability to move, to see, to hear, to solve mathematical equations, or they keep losing vitality as a result of an incurable disease. The main obstacle on the path to understand and respect such people is stereotypes associated with disability. To overcome these stereotypes, to blur of the boundaries, to form a humanistic attitude towards people, we created a photo contest SIGHTS.
THE HISTORY OF THE CONTEST
Over the years the "SIGHTS" photo contest has developed from a small event into an international project. We receive photos from all over Russia, from Kaliningrad to Chukotka. It is also foreign photographers who share their works. At the beginning, there were only a few dozen entries to the contest. Today there are more than a thousand of them. Not only a huge number of amateurs take part in the contest, but also professional photographers, whose works are recognized in the professional association.
We are very happy that such an important topic resonates with more and more people.
